Two new investments – Hailo & BGTees
I am pleased to announce the addition of two new investments to my portfolio, both of which I invested in earlier this year.
The first is Hailo, which is a mobile matchmaking service for passengers and licensed taxi drivers, built atop a tool which helps drivers make their shifts more profitable and days more sociable. Hailo has launched its app for taxi drivers into the London market and later this year, once a large base of active taxi drivers is on-board, will attract consumers to use the Hailo service. Hailo is run by an excellent team with strong experience in technology based dispatch operations and they have implemented some very impressive technology solutions to ensure both taxi drivers and consumers will get pertinent, real-time information even in areas of patchy cellular communications.
Second is BGTees, a print-on-demand business, specialising in T-shirts and other goods, using technology to provide the widest range of high-quality well known and new brand images direct to the consumer. This investment is through iBundle who are providing technology and management support to the business. BGTees brings three elements together to change the provision of high quality designed merchandise to the consumer. the first is a strong licensing arm which has the ability to licence world recognised brands for use on our merchandise, and is also able to create new brands too. The second is the ability to create and manage a technology solution which allows BGTees products to be sold through various outlets and to manage the order-printing-deliverty process. Finally, through a partnership with co-investor Fanela, fulfilment is handled by one of the UK’s largest on-demand printing and embroidery businesses.
